I See The Enemy

Obama's choice for Science Czar wrote in favor of “compulsory abortion” and “involuntary fertility control.”

The Soviets not only opposed our political ideology, they opposed Christianity. Instead of merely supplanting the role of the church, they outlawed and persecuted those who demonstrated their faith in Jesus Christ. Under the guise of fairness and equality, they destroyed the human spirit, robbed people of their individual calling in life and stifled achievement and progress. Because of their size and aggression, they threatened everyone on the planet. By the grace of God, America stood up against their ideals and actions, which gave courage to others closer to the threat. Under the strong leadership of President Reagan, the Soviet bloc disintegrated and the Soviet Union fell.

The world is an immensely freer and better place because of it. Our enemy was obvious; our goal clear. We fought for what was right and triumphed over evil.

Today, we face a similar threat, but one more crafty and subtle. We cannot see the danger for two primary reasons: first, we have lost our sense of right and wrong and, second, the enemy lies within. What many nations once embraced by revolution, America is adopting by evolution.

 â€œWe have met the enemy and he is us,” a comic strip writer once penned. This is certainly true today. The enemy we face today, but many cannot seem to see, is an ideology that places government as the arbiter of equality or fairness. As is usually the case, we have a charismatic leader championing the cause. While it would be easy to target President Obama and the congressional leadership, they are merely tools. They have no more power than the average American chooses to relinquish to them. Of course, once a small piece of freedom or individuality is given up, it is almost impossible to ever regain. But the enemy is not a person; it is an ideology.

Our enemy is a tax policy that says, “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” Those are the words of Karl Marx. When a government views taxes as a means of engineering social equality, they deny a principle that Jesus Christ laid out in the parable of the talents. Not everyone is given equal responsibility or ability, so we will not all end up with the same amount of wealth. In reality, we don’t need it. I don’t need Oprah’s wealth to be content, charitable or productive. I need the wealth that I can handle effectively and efficiently no more, no less.

Look at it this way: if we took the profits from a large pharmaceutical company and spread it out equally among America’s homeless instead of investing it in research and development of new treatments, would we be better off for it? Of course not! Wealth is a tool and we don’t all need the same tools to fulfill our purpose in life.

Another enemy is a social policy that takes charity, which should be a function of the church and local communities, and makes it a function of the state. Biblically, the church is instructed to take care of widows and orphans. Perhaps the church has not stepped up enough in this area, but a welfare system that has no compassionate connection to the recipients cannot succeed. The goal of welfare should be to get people off of welfare, but in America we have created a dependency state through cold, bureaucratic agencies that waste money. Churches and neighborhoods would be wise to reclaim charity as its own and the government would be wise to relinquish it as much as possible.

Our enemy is also a business policy that takes companies out of the hands of entrepreneurs and experts and puts them in the hands of bureaucrats and “czars.” History has proven that state-run companies are less productive, more prone to corruption and in need of constant subsidization. A free market automatically weeds out underperforming companies while rewarding those that benefit the population. The current government pattern of bailing out and taking over America’s private sector is not a sign of progress. It is regressive, foolish and harmful in the long term.

Our enemy is a scientific policy that endorses “compulsory abortion,” a two-child limit per family, and “involuntary fertility control.” These are all ideas supported by America’s newly-chosen Science Czar Dr. John Holdren in his book  Ecoscience. He has never, as far as anyone knows, rescinded these ideas. Science that does not seek to protect and preserve life is not science at all; it is evil to the core.

Our enemy is the animal rights agenda of Regulatory Czar nominee Cass Sunstein that establishes legal rights for livestock, wildlife and pets, enabling animals to file lawsuits in American courts. I believe that “a righteous man cares for the needs of his animal,” as the writer of Proverbs says, but equating humans with animals denies the spiritual truth of creation. A radical animal rights agenda is not merely odd; it’s outright dangerous.

Our enemy is an earth worship movement run by a Green Jobs Czar who describes himself as "a revolutionary,"  "a rowdy nationalist" and "a communist." There is a huge difference between conservation, which is good for people and the earth, and a Global Warming movement that employs fear and underhanded legislation  to achieve political change akin to communism.

Our enemy is a financial system that says, “If you take some of the profit motive out, that's going to incentivize the private sector to do even better.” Would you work harder if you could not make a profit? You would think your boss was an idiot if he said, “Come in this weekend and work some overtime. I’m not going to pay you, because I know that will make you work harder.”

Profit in an open market system is the great motivator to do better. It is only corrupt when a business has a monopoly or an unfair advantage through government subsidization. When everyone has the same chance to compete, more people will enter the race. The better the prize, the harder people will work to achieve it.

These are some of the major ideologies we must fight. Anyone who embraces or endorses them should be opposed. If left unchecked, they will destroy our country.
