We are doing well going through the Iodine 131 treatment this week. Karen has tolerated it well (other than a little nausea and aches and pains). Saturday (noon today) is the beginning of day 5. Day 5 is the last day of isolation PTL!

I guess you can imagine that she is going a little stir crazy with nothing to do (not enough energy) and not able to visit with people. She has to stay clear of everyone by a distance of 3 feet.

Ron, our carpenter/handyman/friend, did make her laugh though by coming upstairs last week and telling her that he wanted to leave his batteries in the bedroom to charge them up.

On a serious note, the radioactivity will decay very rapidly - both in Karen and in our home. Should be virtually gone in several weeks and will be safe for general exposure tomorrow afternoon. The iodine that found its target in Karens body will continue to work for another few weeks killing the cells to which  it bound.
