Our llamas had a haircut a few weeks ago to prepare them for the summer heat. Native to the mountains of Chile, they don't always appreciate the heat around here. Removing the fleece helps them regulate their body temperature.

Mama is the most passive. She is easy to handle whether it is hoof trimming, shots or shearing. Pama (mama's yearling) is a pain the you-know-what. She won't stand still for anyone. It was an adventure to git r done.

We recently found a processing facility in Frederick where we can send the fleece for cleaning and have it turned into yarn. Hopefully, in the next year or two you'll see some things knitted from llama wool.
